Dr. Jim Collins has provided education and training to thousands of health care professionals in senior care for over 25 years. His earlier career included teaching gerontology and sociology in colleges and universities, operating a geropsychiatric practice and consulting health care facilities throughout the country. His areas of expertise include gerontology and geriatrics, senior care, continuing education, compliance training, business and professional development, census development, employee retention, person-centered care and the psychology of motivation.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontological Studies, a Master’s Degree in Sociology, A Master’s-Level Graduate Certificate in Gerontology and Life-Span Development, and a PhD in Health Administration.
Dr. Jim has authored numerous articles and newsletters for health care publications and has written the first full-length book in the United States on person-centered care, “The Person-Centered Way: Revolutionizing Quality of Life in Long-Term Care”. He maintains a robust schedule of live speaking events at hospitals, senior living communities, seminars and conferences.
He owns and operates Collins Learning, which provides online compliance training requirements and continuing education for licensed health care professionals.
